Kenneth Miller Obituary

TROY Kenneth L. Miller, 93, died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at his residence, Diamond Ridge in Troy, surrounded by his family. Ken was born in Brunswick on February 10, 1912, son of the late Oscar and Lottie (Link) Miller. He was married for 65 years to Blanche (Mowers) Miller who passed away in 2000. Beloved by his family, he especially enjoyed his nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is survived by a son, David K. Miller and his wife Carol, Troy; daughters, Beverly Brown, Troy, Barbara Romig and her husband Paul, Vancouver Wash., Karen Margo and her husband Mitch, St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Irvin of Brunswick and Elwood of Clifton Park and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Engster. Ken worked as a machinist and maintenance superintendent for John A. Manning Paper Company-Mt. Ida Mill until it closed in the early 1960s. He built many houses over the years, and eventually became a franchisee for Ridge Pike Homes. He later worked as a maintenance superintendent for Freihofer Baking Company, retiring in 1977. Active in the community, Ken served as trustee of Brunswick School District #1 and Pawling Avenue Methodist Church, where he was also chair of the building committee and an active member of the men's club. He was a member of King Solomon's Primitive Masonic Lodge in Troy, the board of directors of Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy and the board of directors of the former Bethesda Home in North Troy. Ken enjoyed athletics; he participated in bowling and softball leagues as a young man and took up tennis and golf in his retirement. Ken and Blanche wintered in Safety Harbor, Fla. for 18 wonderful years. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Ave., Troy on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, 520 Pawling Ave., Troy with Karyl Hopp, Pastor and Rev. David Martin, Pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Memory's Garden in Colonie. Ken's family expresses their gratitude to Anne, Eileen, Marlon and Lesheaba for their care and compassion over the last few months.
