Russo, L. Diane ALBANY L. Diane Russo, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Diane was born and educated in Brooklyn. She was a professional singer and performed at various clubs in New York City and Canada before settling in Albany. She then worked for New York State Dept. of Tax and Finance for many years before retiring. Diane was a communicant of the former St. James Church and member of the choir. She was predeceased by her mother Agnes and step-father William Hackett; brothers and sisters; her husband, Rocco; and sons, Rocco and Donald. She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Rappoccio (Paul); daughter-in-law, Judy Russo; niece, Ruth Fuhrmann (Paul); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Diane's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 23 at 1 p.m. in Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the church prior to the Mass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Inurnment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to St. Francis of Assisi Food Pantry, 391 Delaware Ave. Albany, NY 12209.
