ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Lawrence J. Tousignant, 89, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, at his daughter's home, in Englewood, Fla. He was a devoted husband to Carol from 1956 until her passing in 2024.
He was survived by his children, Valerie Raucci (John) and Stephen Tousignant (Susan); and his grandson, Nicholas Tousignant (Jena Nicole); as well as several nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Larry had many interests including, music, bowling and local politics. He is remembered for his band the "Nocturnes," which he formed and was its drummer for 20+ years. He also served for several years as president of the Cohoes City School Board. He enjoyed vacations with his family in their travel trailer and their winter residence near Disney, as well as dancing and socializing with friends in the Cohoes, N.Y. area.
For 38 years, he worked for the Division of Military and Naval Affairs, where he started in the mail room and worked his way up to Labor Management Specialist. Upon his retirement, he and Carol remained in the Cohoes homestead until 2023, when they relocated to an assisted living facility in Rotunda, Fla., to be near their daughter. Up until the end, he enjoyed sitting in the sunshine while playing with his two "grand-dogs," always ready to banter with visitors and caregivers. He never lost his sense of humor and derived much joy from making others laugh and cracking jokes. He will be dearly missed.
They family would like to thank the private caregivers, Linda Griffin and Susan Neroli, for their dedication and compassion over the last many months, as well as the Tidewell Hospice staff for their amazing and continued support.
