Letitia "Tish" Durant

Durant, Letitia "Tish" BURDEN LAKE Letitia "Tish" Anne Durant, 74, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long struggle with complications from diabetes. Tish was born July 3rd, 1939 in Detroit, Mich., to the late Thomas and Hazel Wilson Pinney. She worked for over 25 years as a picture framer, until her retirement in 2000. Tish purchased, built, and transformed Northeast Framing into a Capital District gem, earning the respect of peers and customers alike. She was known for her ability to make the frame part of the art. Tish was an active member for many years of the Business and Professional Women's organization, and was a founding member of the State Street chapter. She loved food, cooking, and entertaining; and she had a flair for visual aesthetics and music. An avid reader, she was a member of the Burden Lake Book Club. Tish is survived by her husband, Mike Durant; daughter, Sandra Shipp of Minneapolis; and stepson, Christopher Durant. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Pinney; her first husband, Frank Ford Shipp; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Leland Shipp and Lawrence Shipp; and her brother, Thomas Pinney Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 15th at 10 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, Old Route 66, Averill Park. Friends and family may call Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at Durant Funeral Home, 741 Delaware Avenue, Delmar.
