Pollack, Lillian
SCHENECTADY - Lillian Pollack, 100, known as "Lolly" or "Bubbe" to most, passed peacefully to be reunited with her husband, Arnold, and son, Brian, on October 1, 2025. Born April 20, 1925, the youngest of six in Schenectady N.Y., to her late parents, Solomon and Bertha LeVine, Lolly was a lifelong member of the congregation Agudat Achim. A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Lolly went on to receive her cosmetology degree. She spent many summers in Sharon Springs, where she met and married her husband, Arnold. They then continued to establish themselves in Schenectady, where they opened both Arnold's Beauty Salon and Candid Color, a photography studio in the upper level of the Proctor's arcade. Eventually, both businesses would relocate to Broadway in downtown Schenectady. They grew their family with the birth of their two children, Richel and Brian. Widowed early on in life, Lolly, filled her days with work, continuing her salon while also being employed at General Electric, Department of Social Services and Center Stage Deli. Upon retiring at the age of 71, she uprooted herself to West Palm Beach, Fla., where she lived for 17 years. She enjoyed playing golf, going to shows at the clubhouse and dining with friends. During this time, she was able to travel the world, visiting Egypt, Israel, and Italy, enjoying all her years of hard work.
Her growing legacy brought her back to N.Y., as she reestablished herself at Coburg Village. She lived there for nine years and enjoyed many fond memories with friends and family. This time in her life was spent most enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending hours knitting blankets and sweaters for all of them and winning the cover all at bingo. Her final days were spent at Kingsway community, where she was given so much love and compassion by their staff.
Lolly was always the life of the party and her humor would keep you laughing for hours. She loved deeply, and was memorable to all that knew her. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Richel and David Blackmore; her grandchildren, Allyssa and Peter Provost, Robyn and Nicholas Stone and Adam and Krysty Pollack;as well as her five great-grandchildren, Madison, Zachary, Robert, Edmund, and Madison.
Services will be held at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12309 Friday, October 3, at 10 a.m., with a burial following at the Agudat Achim Cemetery, 246 Schermerhorn St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12304. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
