Louis Lattanzio Obituary

SCHENECTADY Louis T. Lattanzio, 79, lifelong resident of Park Place, entered peacefully into eternal rest Monday afternoon, October 20, 2003 at Ellis Hospital, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his dearly devoted family and friends. Louie was born on November 30, 1923, a son of the late Liberato and Vincenza Castricone Lattanzio. He was educated in Schenectady schools. From 1942 to 1945, Louie served in the United States Marine Corp, serving in the Pacific Theatre, Guadacanal to Purato Island, being awarded the Presidential Citation. He also received a Purple Heart after serving in Bouganville to Guam. Louie was wounded in Guam. Louie was president of Lattanzio Sand & Gravel and Lattanzio Readi Mix in Scotia from 1945 to 1953. For 20 years, he operated his company, Lattanzio Development Co. in Schenectady. Mr. Lattanzio developed during his career several post offices including Philmont and Canajoharie. Also building Randi Gardens in Niskayuna, Cavaliere Apartments in Schenectady and numerous other construction projects in the area. Louie was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Church, the Knights of Columbus 201 Council, 3rd Degree and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV #88. Survivors include his beloved wife, Marion Cavaliere Lattanzio whom he married July 1, 1945; loving and wonderful father of Toni Feinman and her husband Rabbi Barry Feinman of Niskayuna; cherished grandfather of Stacey Lauren and her husband Bill Jaeger of Schenectady, Laina Goley and her husband Stephen of Tulsa, Okla. and Jordan Feinman of Niskayuna; adored great-grandfather to Mekenzie and Zachary Goley. Also survived by a new great-granddaughter, Delaney Goley who was born just hours before Louie's passing. Loving brother of Irma Pardi and Adalgisa Dege DeBlasio, both of Schenectady, the late Mary Honey Castricone, Frank Lattanzio and PFC Anthony Lattanzio who was killed in World War II. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be held Thursday morning at 10 a.m. from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets and then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lattanzio family plot at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 4 to 8. Memorial contributions may be made in Louie's name to the Seed of Abraham, 265 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to the Big World Ventures, 9162 East 102nd Street South, Tulsa, OK 74133.
