Lucia Nocian Obituary

Nocian, Lucia (Sorbero) ROTTERDAM JUNCTION Lucia Sorbero Nocian, 80, died Friday, November 9, 2007 at Ellis Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Amsterdam on February 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rubina (Tagliaferro) Sorbero, and lived in the Schenectady area most of her life. Lucia was a metal winder at General Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1994. A shop steward for many years with IUE Local 301, she was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Rotterdam Junction. Survivors include her beloved son, Stephen Nocian III of Rotterdam Junction; three brothers, Anthony (Shirley) Sorbero, Thomas (Anne) Sorbero and John (Cathy) Steele, all of Amsterdam; a sister, Carmella Brooks of Schenectady; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Nocian Jr., who died in 2000; two sisters, Rose Sorbero and Mary Murrane; three brothers, Frank, Joseph and Carmen Sorbero. Funeral service will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. from DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.
