Lyle Renodin Obituary

Renodin, Dr. Lyle F.
ALBANY - Dr. Lyle F. Renodin, lifelong friend and financial advisor of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, passed away November 8, 2023.
Lyle was born in 1928 in Lowville, N.Y., son of the late Joseph John and Anna Mae Hogan Noody. He is predeceased by his nine siblings Edward Noody, Eugene Noody, Robert Noody, Charles Renodin, James Noody, Joseph Noody, Blanche DeCann, Margaret Renodin, and Darryl Renodin.
Lyle attended St. Stephen Catholic school, Croghan, N.Y., where he first met and was educated by the Allegany Franciscans. Lyle received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Siena College in 1951. After serving a two-year term in the United States Army during the Korean War, he worked in public accounting while continuing graduate education. He received a master's degree in Business Administration in 1956 from Siena College, and became a certified public accountant in 1957. In 1970, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics from New York University. Dr. Renodin served as a partner in the accounting firm of Walquist, Renodin & Miller from 1954 until 1987. During this time, he served as management and financial consultant for various organizations including religious congregations, health care facilities and health systems. From 1969 until 1976, Dr. Renodin served as associate professor of management at Pace University Graduate School of Business.
Lyle never forgot his teachers, the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, and their kindness to him and to his family. Through his work over the years, he has returned their generosity one hundred-fold. It was his vision, together with that of the Congregation's leadership, which helped to establish a retirement fund for members of the Congregation that thrives to this day.
In 1991, the Franciscan Sisters made the decision to merge their St. Francis Hospital with Olean General Hospital. The sisters created a fund from the proceeds of the merger that was used to benefit the charitable ministries and works consistent with the Congregation. In 2000, this fund was renamed the Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation in gratitude to their longtime friend. Over the years, the Foundation has awarded grants totaling over $1.4 million to organizations primarily in Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties in N.Y. and McKean County in PA. The Foundation strives to improve the quality of life of people who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, disabilities, vulnerability and injustice.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, in the chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, 115 E Main Street, Allegany, New York.
