Madeline Musto Obituary

Musto, Madeline Elizabeth ROTTERMAN Madeline Elizabeth Musto, known to many as Maddie, gained her wings and joined God in Heaven on February 8, 2012. After a brief but brave fight with cancer she will now spend the rest of her 'best day evers' as an angel. Mad-eline was a vibrant, independent and lovely kindergartener. She was beautifully kind, positive and happy, so very happy. She was born in Albany on June 25, 2006 and has been an incredible blessing to all who met her every single day of her life. Maddie enjoyed playing with friends, school, drawing, running (faster than a cheetah), and swimming (because she wasn't just part fish, God made her ALL fish!). Her most treasured times were spent with her family, her sisters, her grandparents, her cousins, her aunts and unclesshe loved her family. Madeline inspired so many people in life and in death: to be happy, to smile all the time, to love and enjoy every moment with their family and to live like a crazy little Musto chick. Madeline will be so very missed. There is a piece missing in our family, but she is with God and all the other Angels now, and she has wings. We know that she will be with us for every family dinner, trip, sunset and moment in our hearts. She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Erin (Wilson) Musto; her sisters, Amelia and Lucy; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Anna Marie (Siragusa) Musto of Watertown, N.Y.; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary (Connor) Wilson of Brownville, N.Y.; her maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Wilson of Watertown; aunts and uncles, Nathan and Jordan Musto, Travis (Lisa) Wilson, Rikki (John) Booth, Cortney (Damon) Kirkby and Molly Wilson. Maddie is also survived by her many beloved cousins, family and friends. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Madeleine Sophie Church 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Maddie's name to the Journey's Program at the Children's Hospital of Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.

I have been unable to get your family out of my thoughts and prayers since I learned about Maddie's condition. I know there are no words to help you make sense of this very tragic illness. Even though I never got the chance to meet her, she has touched my heart and I hope your family can find some peace knowing that she is no longer gonna suffer and she has gone to be one of God's angels. If Maddie was anything like her uncle Nate, I'm sure she just as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. God bless your family

Dear Musto Family,
Your story has circled the world. I have never seen so many people called to prayer in such a short time. Maddie brought more people to Jesus. Your hearts ache for her, but also know that your little angel brought more people to the Lord than you can imagine. And now she welcomes Laura Smith, another special girl from your parish, to Heaven. Why does God take the little ones home and leave us behind? We will never know the reason until we join them. But their life stories give us courage and faith. ANd their love brings us all closer to each other and God. Peace be with you always.

Dear Musto family, I never met you or Madeline Elizabeth, but I think I have an idea as how wonderful your little girl was. She was sweet, always happy, helping everyone she could, wanted to go out of hey way to make someone feel good, putting others first, lots of hugs to give, even to perhaps to people she did not know well enough. She was always trying to take care of somebody, regardless of who that person was. Told her mommy, "mom, I love you", and wrote notes to dad saying "I love you, daddy". Played, enjoyed and loved her siblings. Had an angelical voice to sing, beautiful tiny feet to dance and a contagious laugh. Taught people to be courageous, happy, and to love one another as to love God. I am describing an angel? You have better believe it. You see, I have one of those little angels too, and 8 years ago she also got her wings and went to lived with the Lord (pontine dyfus brain stem tumor). She had just turned seven. Her name, Marisa Elena(same initials). I believe God lend us sometimes, angels, to teach us something, but he takes them back, when they have accomplished, with what God sent them to do. But I am sure, our little angels are having a precious time up in Heaven, and don't worry, they will be waiting for us when is our turn. I ask God to hold you in his arms and carry you now, that the way ahead is difficult. God bless you all. Madeline Elizabeth, Marisa Elena enjoy each other, sing, dance for the Lord and angels, and all our love ones. We will see you again.

February 13, 2012

When God calls little children to dwell with Him above,

We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love.

For no heartache compares with the death of one small child

Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild.

Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold

So He picks a little rosebud before it can grow old.

God knows how much we need them, so He takes but a few

To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view.

Believing this is difficult, still, somehow we must try,

The saddest word mankind knows will always be "goodbye."

So when a little child departs, we who are left behind

Must realize God loves children... Angels are hard to find..

God Bless our newest Angel, may she RIP.. My thoughts and prayers with all of you.

The loss of a dear child so quickly is almost too much to bear. I am so very sorry for the loss of your little girl. I cannot even fathom what you must be going through. I lost my fiance to lung cancer in October but he had lived for 53 years. To lose a child this way and so quickly it becomes so hard to understand the Whys. Your obituary shows a level of trust and faith in God that I sometimes struggle to hold on to when such things occur. Thank you for helping me.

February 11, 2012

A Child Of Mine by Edgar Albert Guest,

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love that while she lives,
And mourn for when she's gone.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take her home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
We are so sorry for your loss. We are praying that God will mend your broken heart. God Bless your beautiful family.

Dearest Erin, Matt & Family, how we have prayed for you this whole week...and will continue to do so through this trial and even after <3. We know all too well the loss of a child and know that only God can heal your broken hearts. But He is faithful...Maddie had such a very important job on earth and look at how she is impacting even those who didn't know her! God turns trial into triumph and she is a beam of light that will radiate and change lives for years to come, I promise you! What a blessing to have such a child :) One could only hope to touch as many lives as Maddie is at this very moment. I pray you continue to find strength in your faith and in those around you. Being "Angel Parents" is not easy, but draw near to Him and don't let anyone tell you how to grieve. Maddie will live in your hearts forever and in those of Amelia and Lucy:) My daughter, Shayna, has prayed and prayed for Maddie and said that she knows her sister, Ella, has a new playmate! I have so much faith in that as well! God bless you both, Erin Scee Cook <3

She was so very, very special
And was so from the start
I held her in my arms
But mainly in my heart
And like a single drop of rain
That on still waters fall,
Her life did ripples make
And touched the lives of all.
She's gone to play with angels
In heaven up above
So keep your special memories
And treasure them with love.
Although my darling daughter
Was with me just a while
She'll live on in my heart
With a sweet remembered smile.

Erin and family, Such a helpless lost feeling right now as I was aware and followed Maddies Story.. I truly believe Maddie was put on this earth to send a message; 1 of BEAUTY with the smile she has, a message of HOPE as her message reached acrossed the world in a few short days, the message of LOVE as she stole our hearts just from a picture, and MOST OF ALL she sent the message of LIFE as we all never know what tomorrow will bring! Tho she completed her life soo young she was lucky to have enjoyed and embraced every minute of it with amazing family and friends.. Thank you for being so upclose with Maddies story as we all prayed for her to be pain free without suffering and God did just that tho we all will feel we r suffering without her... I am praying her comfort wraps around you and brings funloving energetic memories of her and praying you feel a sense of security as she has entered the golden gates and is now living a painfree life in HEAVEN! Please God watch over you all and send you messages to know Maddie is with you always! God needs all kinds but he truly got a PERFECT ANGEL this time!

We started to pray as soon as we received the prayer request from Elaine B. The miracle of Maddie is that she learned the true lesson we are all sent her for: how to love God and how to love one another. Thank you for sharing your daughter's story with us. We will continue to pray for you all. May the Blessed Mother, who truly knows what a sword in the heart feels like, intercede for you to receive peace, consolation, and healing. The Lord be with you all.

As a first-time Mommy to a 16 month old toddler, my heart breaks for what you're family is going through. Please find comfort in God and know that Maddie is at peace now. She is a true Angel and will always have a place in my heart.

Longing For One More Day
When we lose someone we love it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence... a quiet sadness... A longing for one more day... one more word... one more touch... We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. We will see you again some day, in a heavenly place where there is no parting. A place where there are no words that mean good-bye.
Like so many others, I read Maddie's story on Facebook this week. I am so very sorry for your loss. As a mom of four, I weep with you. My prayers and thoughts go out to Maddie's family and friends. May your memories of your beautiful angel be a source of comfort to you in the days ahead.
