Manuella C. "Manny" Gaylord

Gaylord, Manuella C. "Manny" WATERVLIET Manuella C. Gaylord, "Manny," age 86, a former long-time resident of Watervliet, passed away on April 5, 2022, in Costa Mesa, Calif. Manny is survived by her daughter, Beth Gaylord of Irvine, Calif.; her son, Charles Gaylord Jr. of Danbury, Conn.; her sister, Marianne Totten; her grandchildren, Mark J. Wagner Jr. (Jenna), Bennett and Cameron Black, and Jeffrey, Matthew and Alanna Gaylord; her great-grandchildren, Roman and Layla Wagner; her nieces, Jill and Heather Tortorici and Denese Senno; and her nephew, Raymond Craveiro Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Martha Craveiro; her brother, Raymond Craveiro; and her daughter, Leslie G. Wagner. Manny was born on September 14, 1935 in White Plains, N.Y. She attended Port Chester High School and received her nursing degree from the Bellevue School of Nursing. Once her children were teens, Manny went back to school and received a bachelor's degree from Adelphi University and a master's degree from Stony Brook University. She was a highly skilled and respected nurse and worked for several hospitals on Long Island in their intensive care units as a cardiac care specialist before relocating to Watervliet to be closer to her daughter and grandson. Manny worked at the Albany VA Medical Center for 14 years before retiring from nursing. Following her nursing career, she worked as a medical consultant. She moved to Costa Mesa, Calif. in 2018 where she resided at Vivante on the Coast. Manny took her role as family matriarch very seriously and was a "force" in both her personal and professional life. Her family will greatly miss her abundant wisdom, quick wit, and valuable guidance.
