Margaret Nania Obituary

Nania, Margaret P. LOUDONVILLE On August 31, 2022, surrounded by her family, Margaret Viola Nania at the age of 89 entered eternal life after a brief illness. Born on March 17,1933, in Albany, Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Cassello) Viola. Margaret spent many of her early years working at her parent's store, The Dove Street Fruit Garden in downtown Albany which often brought back fond memories and stories. Margaret spent 45 years working for the New York State Labor Department. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her siblings and friends whether it was a simple day trip or a trip abroad. Margaret enjoyed playing Bingo, her social clubs, knitting and crocheting and most of all baking. Her mini cheesecakes were often gone before dessert was served. Margaret would often brag about her grandchildren and carry picture books containing the various exploits of the young Benjamin, Ethan, and Gianna Nania. Margaret is survived by her son, Thomas, his wife, Jamie, and their three children, Benjamin, Ethan and Gianna of Mechanicville. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Viola along with several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Emilio (Mel) Nania; her brother, Ralph Viola and his wife, Sadie; and her sister, Loretta Gadani and her husband, Ettore. Our family would like to extend special thanks to Shannon Koper and Lori Salisbury for the constant support that they extended to our family in the care of my mother. This meant a lot to our family. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Margaret's family on Wednesday, September 7, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Community Hospice, 310 S. Tommy we are so sorry for the loss of your dear mother Margaret. We will never forget her welcoming us to Kim Drive when we moved in to the neighborhood as a young married couple. Later when our children came along they loved "Margee" as they called her. She was a great neighbor and friend to our family the 9 years we lived there. Margee was an amazing baker as we really enjoyed her cookies especially at the holidays. Tommy and your family, we are so sorry for your loss of your mother as you were her greatest joy. Rest In Peace Margaret, you were one very special lady that I´m sure that will be missed by all that knew you.

I worked with Margaret at functions at the American Italian Museum and found her to be a quiet, but dedicated worker. The only excuse she ever had for not accepting a job was because she had to baby-sit her grandchildren, to whom she was devoted. I know those of us wh shared time with her will miss her. Please accept my condolences.
