Zrelak, Marion
SELKIRK - Marion Zrelak passed away on November 19, 2025. She was born on April 16, 1929, to the late Nicholas and Anna Zupan in Cold Spring, N.Y., and was a lifelong resident of Selkirk. She graduated from the Ravena Coeyman Selkirk, High School and the Mildred Elley Business School and worked for Callahan Industries before entering state service and retired from the N.Y.S. emergency management office.
She was active in the parish life of her churches, first at Saint Patrick's in Ravena and then at Saint Mary's in Albany. At Saint Mary's, she served on the Board, was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and was the chairperson of the Senior Program where her generous and kind heart touched many lives throughout her life. Faith, family, and hard work were her mainstays, and she remained committed to these principles throughout her life.
She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, serving as Secretary, and Regent in the local office and as a District Deputy on a state level. She was also involved with the Past Regents Chapter in the Albany Diocese.
She also volunteered for many years at the VA hospital in Albany, where she served veterans under the auspices of the Catholic Chaplain's Office
She also enjoyed membership in the Bethlehem Historical Association. She also spent many years volunteering in the archives for the Daughters of Charity in Albany, where she learned the history of the order and the wonderful work they did in teaching and helping the poor of the world.
She especially enjoyed music, having studied the violin as a child and in later years, the organ.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and John; sister, Catherine Zupan; and her nephew, James Zupan. She is survived by her nephew, John Zupan; and many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on December 1, at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Mary's Church, 10 Lodge St., Albany, at 10 a.m. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Following the interment, friends and family are invited to a gathering at Rudy's V&R, 50 Exchange St., Albany, N.Y.
