NORTH GREENBUSH - Marjorie Tatro Allen was called home to our Lord on June 30, 2023, at 87 years old following a lengthy illness.
She was born on June 3, 1936, in Troy and later resided in North Greenbush. Her parents, Edward and Marjorie (McGill) Tatro, passed away when she was nine. Marge was raised by her maternal grandparents, Michael and Mary Helen (Kavney) McGill.
Marge graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1954. Having a passion for learning, she achieved multiple degrees throughout her life including two master's degrees from SUNY Albany, a Master of Science in literature in 1981 and a Master of Library Science in 1985. She started her career at Hudson Valley Community College as an audio-visual technician and advanced to the director of the Media and Learning Center. Marge had an amazing memory, was an avid reader, an aficionado of classic movies and enjoyed photography.
Marge was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Leo Robert Allen; her brother, Edward Tatro; and her infant children, Jill, Christopher and Matthew. Marjorie is survived by her children, Robert (Joanne) Allen of North Greenbush, Jude (Thomas Seaman) of Longmont, Colo. and Timothy Allen of Carolina Beach, N.C.; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael, Kimberly and Bridget Allen, Katelyn (Taylor) Vories, Ryan Seaman, and Michael (Kara) Augustson; and a great-grandson, Felix Vories.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, Troy on Friday, July 7, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
