Martin Kehoe Obituary

SCHENECTADY - Our family deeply mourns the loss of our beloved father and grandfather, Martin J. Kehoe Jr., 87, who passed away on January 24, 2023, at Ellis hospital.
Born and educated in Schenectady, Martin was the son of the late Martin and Edna (Lee) Kehoe Sr. A graduate of the former Draper High School, Martin received his bachelor's degree in business from St. Francis College and later attended Albany Law School.
A former claims investigator for Upstate Claims, Martin was also the owner of The Martin Kehoe Insurance Agency.
A founding member of the Rotterdam Elks # 2157, Martin was a former exalted ruler, a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, the Hank's Golf League, a diehard N.Y. Yankees fan, and a member of the Guilderland YMCA where he would swim daily. He loved to travel in the Adirondacks and overseas, he enjoyed camping, Sacandaga Lake, ice and regular fishing, playing darts, horseshoes, bocce ball, and cards, clam bakes with family and friends, gardening with Arlene and family, and his red tractor. Martin was also a collector of antiques, coins and stamps, and enjoyed Jeopardy with his son-in-law, Peter.
He was predeceased in 2022 by his wife of 65 years and high school sweetheart, Arlene DeCarlo Kehoe, who he married on August 17, 1957; and his siblings, John Kehoe and Joan Kehoe Plankis. Martin is survived by his children, Martin J Kehoe III (Lori) of Guilderland, Randall E. Kehoe of Albany, Amy Marie Lis (Peter) of Slingerlands and Jeffrey J. Kehoe of Schenectady; his granddaughter, Rowan Kehoe of Guilderland; a sister, Christine Reynolds (Daniel) of Rotterdam, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Martin on Tuesday, January 31, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady, NY, 12304. Visitation will be private for the family. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to either the Rotterdam Elks lodge or to St. Paul the Apostle Church.

I worked with Marty decades ago as he worked part time at the Mohawk Adjustment Service. We always looked forward to whenever Marty would show up, he would always have us laughing, making our workday brighter. Marty knew how to tell a story. I also remember Arlene, having had her as a substitute teacher many times over the years. I am so very sorry for your loss.
