Maciuk, Mary G. COHOES Mary G. Maciuk, 89, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Albany Medical Center. Born in Cohoes to Harry and Olga Oryczak Nedelsky, Mary was educated in Cohoes schools and earned her bachelor's degree from the University at Albany and her master's degree in teaching from The College of Saint Rose. She worked as a special education teacher for 27 years with the Cohoes City School District at Van Schaick Elementary School and at Harmony Hill School until retiring in 1988. Mary's faith has always been an important part of her life, and she has been a devout lifelong member of St. Peter and St. Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Church. She belonged to the church choir, served on numerous church committees and school functions. She was a member of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America for 60 years and served as past president. Through her example she instilled in her family the love of church, Ukrainian traditions and their Ukrainian heritage. Mary also enjoyed traditional Ukrainian cooking and baking. She enjoyed coordinating family gatherings as well as traveling, reading and playing cards. Mary was the cherished wife of 67 years to Roman Maciuk; the beloved mother of Christine Kyfor (Zenon) of Clifton Park and Halya Hebert (Wil) of Johns Island, S.C.; the doting "Baba" of Andrij Kyfor (Dana), Nicholas Hebert (M.J.), Tanya Kenna (John) and Laryssa Oberther (Brian); and "Great Baba" of Natalie Kenna. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, godchildren and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Myron Nedelsky; and her sister, Natalie Stemsky. Relatives and friends may visit on Friday at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes from 4-6 p.m. A Panakhyda service will be held in the funeral home at 5 p.m. Mary's funeral and burial will be private.
