Mary Perretta Obituary

Perretta, Mary Rose
MECHANICVILLE - Mary Rose "Babe" Perretta, 97, a lifelong resident of Mechanicville, died peacefully on November 22, 2025, at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health after a long illness. Born in Mechanicville on July 17, 1928, daughter of the late Rafael "Ralph" and Rose Izzo Perretta, she was a 1945 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
Affectionately known as "Babe," she worked for Dr. Ben Mastrianni for over 40 years, serving as the warm, welcoming face and trusted receptionist of his medical practice.
She enjoyed bowling, playing bocce, baking, knitting, and many other forms of needlework. A kindhearted woman, Babe earned the deep love of her large family through her gentle spirit and caring nature. She was a longtime member of the Junior Dante Club and generously volunteered her time at the Mechanicville Area Community Service Center Food Pantry. She was also a lifelong and devoted member of All Saints on the Hudson Parish.
Babe was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony "Dunny" (Anna) Perretta, Ralph (Vivian) Perretta, and Benjamin (Mary) Perretta; sisters, Theresa (Joe) Benamati and Concetta "TT" Perretta; nieces, Rose Marie Ennello, Linda Berlingieri, and Michele Brown; and nephew, Joseph Benamati Jr.
Survivors include her loving nieces and nephews, Teresa Benamati, Andrea (Ron) Baisley, Alexis (Jon) Rutnik, Deanna (John) Butler, Ralph Perretta, and Claudia Giulianelli; along with her great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom meant the world to Mama Rose.
Babe's family wishes to offer special thanks to Rose Guanay at Schuyler Ridge for her exceptional love and constant care of Mary Rose. They also extend heartfelt appreciation to SR aide Ronni for her kindness, and to her dear friend, Maggie, with whom she shared her days.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Those wishing to remember Babe in a special way are encouraged to make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, in loving memory of Mary Rose Perretta.
