Matthew J. Anton

Anton, Matthew J. PARRISH, Fla. Matthew "Matt" Anton, 52, resident of Parrish, Fla. died suddenly on May 15, 2018. Born on June 9, 1965, in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Sydney Anton. Survived by sister, Rebecca (Wayne) Tearno of Albany; sister, Olga Anton of Colonie and her son, Michael; sister, Katina (Anthony) Barulli of New Jersey; brother, John Anton of Albany and his son, John and daughter, Alexis. Matt is also survived by his aunt and a host of cousins and friends. Matt was born and raised in Albany, attended Albany High School and worked at the Albany County Jail as a correctional officer for 24 years before retiring in 2009. Shortly thereafter, Matt resided in Parrish, Fla. enjoying his home and landscaping his grounds meticulously as a hobby. Matt quickly became a great neighbor and friend to many in a short time. He enjoyed his political views, especially his second amendment rights and his love for photography. Matt was an animal lover rescuing his pet dog, Dexter, from a shelter. His love for life and sheer enjoyment of it is a testament for those that were part of it, making him missed by all for being taken so soon. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, in St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany. Entombment will immediately follow in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
