Matthew Lonergan Obituary
BROADALBIN -
Matthew J. Lonergan, 58, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Ellis Hospital. Matthew was the son of the late Matthew and Genevieve Lonergan. Matthew was the devoted partner to Lisa Simmons for over eight years.
Matthew worked for FedEx for over 15 years.
Matthew was an avid fisherman and huge Rams fan. He was a dedicated sports fan, and incredible father and grandfather. He loved cooking for his family and friends. Matthew was a wealth of 1980s metal music knowledge and random movie quotes. He was loved by many and known for his huge heart and humor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his best friends, Tony and Randy.
Matthew is survived by his partner, Lisa Simmons; his children, Zach (Kaitlyn Lloyd), Josh (Tessa Degener), Cara Lonergan and Mellissa (Joe) Sarro. He was the adored grandfather of Aryah Sarro. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Patrick, Earl, Chester, Brian, Michael and Jennifer; his sister-in-law, Teri Schmidt; as well as many close family members and friends, including his best friend of 50 years, Todd (Nancy) Mischitelli and Tim and John Chidsey.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, N.Y., on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
