Popp, Meryl Joan
COLONIE - Meryl Joan Popp, 96, passed away December 29, 2025. Born August 19, 1929, in Green Island, she was daughter of the late Richard F. and Grace Y. Young Martel. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1948, and married Joseph F. Popp Jr. on September 27, 1952. Meryl had worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 10 years, and later in life was employed by the N.Y.S. Senate, until her retirement in 1991.
Meryl is survived by her three children Joseph F. (Elizabeth) Popp, Robert F. Popp (late Rise), and David C.(Tracy) Popp. She is grandmother of Aubrey Neihaus, Zachary Taylor, Zachary Popp, Tyler Popp, and Jeremiah Popp. Great-grandmother of Kai Neihaus, Ivana Taylor Mattie Popp , Zoey Popp and Carson Popp. She was sister of the late Richard Martell, Rusell Martell, Meredith Hill, Ronald Martell and Irma Behuniak. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 am from St. Ambrose Church Latham. Calling hours are Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m., in the church prior to services. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
