Martin, Michael T. EAGLE MILLS Michael T. "Mickey" Martin, 76, of Eastover Road, died on December 24, 2016, at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy on August 1, 1940, Mike was the son of the late Michael E. and Mary Rita (Doran) Martin; and the husband of Christine M. (Grady) Martin of Eagle Mills, who survives. A graduate of LaSalle High School and Clarkston University, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served honorably from 1959-1963. Mike was employed by the Niagara Mohawk Power Company in Cohoes and for 20 years was a member of the I.B.E.W. Union, local #97 in Albany. He retired in 2004. He was a devoted life member with 60 years of continuous service of the Eagle Mills Volunteer Fire Company holding many posts including assistant chief several times and district commissioner for many years. Under his gruff exterior, Mike was a "teddy bear" who enjoyed camping at King Phillips Campground at Lake George, fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife, Christine; Mike is survived by his children, Daniel P. Martin of Troy, Thomas M. and Julie Martin of Eagle Mills; his grandchildren, Matthew and Paige Martin, Celia, Emmaline and Braden; a great-grandaughter, Carleigh Martin; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and Dr. Rudy Reville of Peterborough, N.H.; two nephews; his stepchildren, Kelley and Rudy Caiazza of Eagle Mills, Janine and Jason Conlen of Cohoes and Amanda and Kyle Schongar of Brunswick; his stepgrandchildren, Rudy Jr., Christopher, Gabriella, Nicholas and Anthony and his former wife, Mary Kenney of Troy. He was predeceased by a stepson, the late John A. Lanesey. A private service will be held at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., with Fire Company Chaplain, Reverend Chris Swanson, officiating. There will be no calling. A public graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at the Eagle Mils Cemetery on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, at a time to be announced.
