Michael Such Obituary
LATHAM - Michael Such, 67, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Watervliet on March 13, 1956, to Stanley and Lila (Altieri) Such. Michael was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School, HVCC, SUNY Oswego and received his master's degree from SUNY Albany.
In his early years, Michael operated "Big Mike's Arco" gas station in Watervliet, then went out to pursue an alarm/security business "Loss Prevention Consultants." He was also the owner/operator of "Security and Such." Michael worked his way through college as a short-order cook and took a position as a counselor at a school for court-appointed students in Great Barrington, Mass. Eventually, Michael found his niche with a career as a professor of Criminal Justice at HVCC. He was a revered member of the faculty, working there for 30+ years. This was very near and dear to his heart. His pride and joy though, was his '67 convertible Camaro SS 350 which he enjoyed for 49 years.
He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life for the past 26 years, Peggy Evans; his brother, David (Janet); his sister, Kristine (Brian); several nieces and grandnieces. Also survived by an aunt, uncle, several cousins and his Georgia family.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I used to hang with Mike at Coccoa's Diner back many moons ago. Had many laughs and good times. He was a great guy. Made my favorite Blueberry Pie 24" for my Bachelors Party. Memories. RIP Mike. Sincerely, Joe L

I attended classes with Mike at HVCC where we had great professors who obviously motivated Mike to join their revered ranks. Michael was outgoing, confident, and colorful. His smile was contagious. I purposefully stopped over at the Colonie Diner to check out his culinary skills occasionally. I´m happy to know that his hard work ethic and personality combined in a lifetime of success. I sat and I thought, for hours on end and remembered the life that I shared with my friend.
Michael, my dear, we played all the time, I guess that´s the reason for this little rhyme.
Let´s go back 60 years, as kids we grew close. Playing games in the front room at your home as our host.
Moms and dads were the bakers, we´d help when we could, your bakery was the prize of the whole neighborhood.
We´d play in the driveway, push Kris on a swing. David would watch us and try to be king.
We´d listen to music, while our folks played with cards. For hours we´d laugh, and life wasn´t so hard.
It´s hard to believe that you´ve now gone away, to be with our parents for the rest of our days.
Your Peggy will miss you, and your family will too. It´s sad to imagine a life without you.
But I´ll cherish the memories of how we both grew, our families together, fearless, I knew.
I will see you later, some time down the line, you´ll always be with me, a dear friend of mine.

Mike was a good friend who I spent time with more in the last few years. Then we did growing up in watervliet
We would always start our conversations about thing we did growing up. I will miss our many conversations throughout the year

Mike and I grew up together and spent some of high school days hanging out.
For the last few years we became good friends and shared many conversations about our lives and our growing up in Vliet
We also spent a lot of thing talking about investigating and etc
He was taking way to early and I will miss my good friend and lot.

When Michael worked at our family business, (The Colonie Diner), I was a teen at the time, I remember waiting for Michael to arrive in his cool sports car. It always made my day when Michael pulled up in that thing. Michael was an inspiration for me and a lot of us that worked at the diner. I'll never forget those days. I was so glad Michael reached out to me and my brother Nick a few months back. We were able to reminisce those great times and we got to catch up on our present lives. I'm so glad we crossed paths Michael. My deepest condolences to Peggy, Dave and the entire Such family. Michael was a special person, always smiled and had a big heart. He will truly be missed.
