Whaley, Michael V.
STEPHENTOWN - Michael V. Whaley, 74, of Willow Way, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, October 15, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, after being stricken. Michael was doing what he loved best, deer hunting with his best friend and hunting partner, Michael (Tracy) Mason. Born in Albany and raised in Brunswick, Michael was the son of the late Milton V. and Eva Ellen Rysedorph Whaley; and husband of Desiree Austin Whaley. Michael attended George Washington School in Brunswick, and was a graduate of Troy High School. He held various jobs over his life, and had retired in May of this year from the Averill Park School District, where he had been a head custodian. Michael was the longest living member and past Chief of the Mountain View Fire Company.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his sons, Jon (Daisey), Michael T. and William E. Whaley; and their mother and former wife, Ella Schreiner Whaley; son, Joshua J. Whaley; and daughter, Serenity H.; his sister, Janice Sedgewick; his grandchildren, Kirsten, Michael Joseph, Payton, Tyler, Aurora and Reagan
A time to celebrate the life of Michael Whaley will be 12 to 3 p.m., on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park, N.Y.
