This is such sad news. My condolences to Mike's family. Mike and I grew up in Delmar living just 4 houses apart on Elsmere Avenue. I have so many memories that fill a lifetime. We spent so much time together growing up as kids, as teenagers and then as young adults before we moved on to our "adult lives" and I got married and moved away. I remember us listening and loving the same music - Grand Funk Railroad was a favorite ("Closer to Home" and "I'm Your Captain" were favorites of Mike's that we used to listen to over and over). We liked the outdoors - went camping on Cape Cod and spent countless summer days on Warner's Lake with our friend, John, at his camp there, where we swam, listened to more music and met new friends. We used to go to lunch at his mother's luncheonette in Delmar and she cooked us hundreds of hamburgers over the years. He was funny and could always make me laugh and get me to put down the serious things and go have fun. Now that he is gone, I can see how he made such an impact on me when I was young. He lived life at full throttle. I just saw Mike a couple of months ago at My Place in Delmar and we promised to get together again and relive old stories. Now I am so sorry that we didn't get to do that. I will always treasure Mike and his memory and the memories of all the things we did together in the neighborhood and beyond over the decades that we knew each other.
Rest in Peace, Good Friend.

Herb and Jeannie, so very sorry to hear this news. I was able to reconnect with Mike every Friday at My Place. He was always busting on me and telling jokes. He was a happy soul. May He RIP.
