Pawliw, Olha COHOES Olha Makohin Pawliw, 93, of Manor Ave, Cohoes died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at her daughter's residence in Port Charlotte, Fla. embraced by her loving family. Born in Denysiw, Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Hryhorij and Teklia Khranevych Makohin and beloved wife of the late Mykola Pawliw. Olha was educated in Ukraine and came to the United States with her husband in 1949. A very active woman, Olha loved music, singing and traveling to exotic destinations with her daughter Anna during which beautiful memories were created. Olha appreciated the outdoors and spent many joyful hours tending to her flowers, plants and cultivating her garden. She was a devout communicant of Saints Peter and Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cohoes where she was a former member of the choir. In addition, she was also a supporting member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port, Fla. where she spent her winters. She was a very active member and past president of the Ukrainian National Women's League, branch #34 in Cohoes for over 55 years. Olha deeply treasured her family and friends. She is survived by her loving daughter, Anna Pawliw Mariani and her husband, Roman Kebus of Port Charlotte, Fla. Many nieces and nephews and relatives in Ukraine also survive. She was predeceased by two children, Maria and Oksanna Pawliw. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd. 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes will be Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint's Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00. Interment will be in Saint's Peter and Paul Ukrainian Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday from 5-7 p.m. A Panakhyda Service will be held in the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00.
