WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Patricia (Pat) Margaret Cumberbatch, 85, of Williamstown, Mass., passed away on November 7, 2024. Born on July 23, 1939, in North Adams, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Ruth M. (Nagle) and Howard L. Cummings.
Pat was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in North Adams and the College of Our Lady of the Elms in 1961. She began teaching in Kinderhook, N.Y., in 1961 and retired from the Ichabod Crane Central School District in 1994.
In 1963, Pat married Oliver "Whitey" Cumberbatch on October 12. He passed away on August 2, 1986. Many years were spent with her companion, Jacob Novak, enjoying time on Cape Cod and winters in Little Torch Key, Fla. He passed on January 19, 2008. Following his death, Pat relocated to Williamstown, Mass.
Pat was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Robert, Phillip and John Cummings and Ruth Vachereau.
She leaves nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a great-grandniece, all who called her "Auntie."
A Funeral Mass for Pat will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Church, Rt. 9, Valatie, N.Y. Burial will follow at the Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, N.Y. Donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Williamstown Commons Activity Fund.
