Patricia Sasso Obituary

Sasso, Patricia 'Trish' Ann MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Patricia "Trish" Ann Sasso (Mitchell), 54, of Morgantown passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 31, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Trish, as she was known by many of her friends and family, was born in Albany on September 12, 1961, a daughter to the late Michael J. and Marilyn Vennard Sasso. Trish graduated from the University of Albany with a master's degree in social work, obtaining the credential of licensed independent clinical social worker. Upon moving to West Virginia, she was employed by Valley Community Mental Health as a clinical therapist and later, WVU School of Medicine, Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at Chestnut Ridge Center, until deciding to enter the private sector. She continued at her own practice until her health would no longer allow. Although, not able to work from her office, she continued to give care to those around her throughout her six year battle with cancer. Touching lives in everything she did, Trish saw the good and beauty in everyone. Any stranger that she met quickly became a loving friend. Trish's dedication to her family was remarkable. She never missed an event of her children, regardless of how sick she may have been feeling. She never complained about her situation, but instead always felt grateful for the blessings in her life. She battled courageously, with the heart of a lion, through her illness, desiring to have every precious day she could with her family and friends. Trish is survived by her husband, Doug Mitchell; one daughter, Abigail 'Abby' Sasso Mitchell; son, Cameron 'Cam' Sasso Mitchell all of Morgantown; sisters, Barbara Jean Shields (Terry) of Niskayuna and Ann Marie Mahlitz (Derek) of Cary, N.C.; mother and father-in-law, Ella C. and William 'Larry' Mitchell of Rogersville, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Jan Britton (Bill) of Washington, Pa. and Judy Marshall (Graham) of Houston, Texas, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Trish was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Marie Sasso and brother-in-law, Jed Howard. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Craig and the staff of WVU's Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center for their caring, competent and professional care of Trish, as well as the "Trish's Prayer Warriors" group, which included members across the U.S. and Canada for their ongoing love and support of Trish. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501 on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, from 4 until 8 p.m. Trish will lie in repose on Thursday, November 5, at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 3334 University Ave. Morgantown, WV 26505 from 11 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with Rev. Father John V. DiBacco Jr., as celebrant. Cremation will follow services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, C/O WVU Foundation, P.O. Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26506-9300. Online condolences may be offered at fredjenkinsfuneralhome.com

Annie and Barbara Jean,
I was so shocked and Very sad to hear about Trish. Last time I saw her (probably few years ago), she told me how she fought off her cancer. She was so proud. I always adored Trisha. Her smile ..which is embedded in my brain...was breathtaking. And a beautiful personality to go with it. God Bless all of your families during this sad time. Trisha will be missed.
Your cousin, Lori Morrell (Sasso)
