Patrick Hildreth Obituary

Hildreth, Patrick M. Sr. MECHANICVILLE Patrick M. Hildreth Sr., "Mr. H.," 94 of Broadway, died Wednesday morning, June 13, 2018, at his home, in the loving company of his family. Born in Whitehall, June 22, 1923, son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Harvey Hildreth, Pat served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, as a sergeant. After the war, Pat worked for the U.S. Post Office and for both the B&M and D&H Railroad. On December 7, 1942, Pat married Rosemary Sumner Hildreth, the true love of his life. Together they raised a family and built a successful business. After Rosemary died on January 2, 2000, Pat and sons, Pat and Ed, continued to work together in the Restaurant and Catering Business. His long career of cooking continued until just last month. Pat had the fortunate opportunity to work many years with his wife, children and grandchildren, serving the public homemade food and Mrs. H's sinfully delicious desserts. After the opening of the Saratoga National Cemetery, Pat and his family often provided the dedicated members of the Cemetery staff and the Honor Guard with his delicious food. Pat always praised the cemetery staff for doing all they could to provide a peaceful and beautiful resting place to all who served our country. A past member of the Elks and American Legion, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and his faithful dog Sumner. Survivors include his five children, former Mechanicville Mayor Patrick (Carol) Hildreth Jr., Judith Levesque, Peter Hildreth and Edward Hildreth all of Mechanicville and Alice (Hal) Recore of Morrisonville, N.Y. Loving Poppy to 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Lisa, Kevin, Thomas, Deirdre, Kirsten, Jim, Marc, Michael and Kelly; and 11 great grandchildren, Haileigh, Sydney, Travis, Claire, Justin, Cassidy, Makayla, Alexis, Connor, Elizabeth and Madelaine. Pat is also survived by his sister Olive Belden and brother Warren Hildreth both of Whitehall, along with many nieces, nephews and their families. Pat was predeceased by his son-in-law, James Levesque; sisters, Dorothy Gordon, Patricia Snowdon, Martha, Marion and Jane Hildreth and brothers William, James, Howard and Albert Hildreth. Pat's family profoundly thanks Drs. Agrawal and Armenia for their care of their Dad, and Community Hospice for the gift of allowing Pat the comfort of his home to the end. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in All Saints on the Hudson, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the North Main Street church on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard or Community Hospice in respectful memory of Patrick M.
