Paul Kelleher Obituary

Kelleher, Paul J.
SCHENECTADY - Paul J. Kelleher, Wiz, the Wizard, the Legend passed away suddenly, on March 3, 2023, as the result of a snowmobile accident on his beloved Schroon Lake leaving behind a devastated family.
Paul was the son of the late Paul F. Kelleher and Mary Therese Gleason Kelleher. He married the love of his life, his constant companion, and his sous chef, Lorraine Ochs Kelleher, in November of 2005 and together they blended a family of five children: Jamie Kelleher Kruppenbacher (Bruce), Meaghan Kelleher Weber (Chris), Kevin Kelleher, Meaghan Kohls (Eric) and Molly Mulligan Rochelle (Dave). They also shared eight grandchildren, Cody, Marissa, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Bryson, Hailee, Mila, and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Kelleher Grasso (Larry, deceased).
Paul was a graduate of Keveny Academy where he made friends who remain close to this day. Especially his oldest and dearest friend John Hanrahan.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving as an airframe mechanic during the Vietnam War and will be buried with full military honors. He was proud of his service to his country.
Paul found his greatest peace in his favorite place on Schroon Lake. You could always find him with his son and sons-in-law helping to build the new camp, behind the grill, or in the kitchen, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, feeding anyone who needed to be fed and sharing his chef skills.
He loved fishing, fast boats, snowmobiling, country music and his truck. But most of all he loved Lori, Jamie, Meaghan and Kevin and being Papa to his grands, teaching them to fish, swim, build a fire, drive a boat or shoot a B.B. gun.
Paul leaves behind many friends. Everywhere he went, someone would know him. He also leaves behind, the camp crew Harry, Geri, Betsy and Al, Darrel and Brooke, Stacy, Jason and Jen, Justin, Stephanie and Mike, and many more special cousins.
His warm heart, easy way and sense of fun and adventure will be just a few of the things that all who knew him will remember.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paul's family on Saturday, March 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. There will be an Irish celebration of life immediately following the services at his sister's residence at 10 Edward Dr., Schenectady. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come join the family and share their experiences and the fun times they've had with The Wiz.

To my dear friend Debbie and of course Lori and the big, loving family of Paul, my most heart felt sympathies. It is such a sudden and such a tragic loss in EVERY way. When you loose someone you love so dearly, nothing and no one can ever make up, fix or replace that love. Its just too awful. Too sad. Too tagic. Too final. I am glad you Debbie and Lori have each other now....those that are left. Those that remember all the wonderful times. All the funny , sweet, moments .
With a heavy heart...

My deepest condolences to Lori, family and friends of the Wizard. I have fond memories of enjoying many times spent with Lori and Wizard in Schroon Lake at Jack's Yellowcoach Motel, the Timberwolf, Flanagan's, and couple times at the camp. Great guy, mechanic, cook and problem solver. May the Wizard rest in peace. He will not be forgotten. Jack passes along his condolences, also

It is often hard to find the right words at a time like this. May you find peace, comfort, and all the love you need in the days to come.

At the Hallock camp he and Lori spent many years as well. Don and Paul worked well together on boats, docks and whatever else needed to be done. Paul also fixed many sumptuous meals for however many people there were. To our twin granddaughters he was "George!" He was so much to so many that knew him. He also had the alter ego of Aqua-man at Hallock´s Haven.
