Paul LeCuyer Obituary

LATHAM Paul A. LeCuyer, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in St. Cloid, Canada on October 3, 1919, he was the son of the late Felix and Ida Archambeault LeCuyer. Paul grew up in Watervliet moving to Troy in his adult life and finally to Latham. He graduated the first class of the new Watervliet High School in 1938 where he was captain of the baseball, basketball and soccer teams. Paul served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Iran Persia from 1943-1945. He entered Siena College in 1946 where he played basketball, graduating in 1949 with a BS in economics. He was employed by Davis Distributing as a sales manager until 1966 when he purchased Clyde Lower Inc. and Gary's Automatic Phono Inc. and served as president until his retirement in 1974. Paul enjoyed racquetball and was a member of several baseball, softball, bowling and golf leagues. He was a member of the Watervliet VFW Post #729 and was a 50 year member of the Watervliet Elks Lodge #1500. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Rentz LeCuyer; two children, Rosemary (Robert) Porter of Latham and Paul D. (Donna) LeCuyer of Brunswick; his grandchildren, Chad (Christine) Fowler, Gregor (Joanne) Fowler, Christopher (Dawn) Fowler, David Porter, Monique (Todd) Grimm and Chandree (Nino) Cagliandro; and his great-grandchildren, Noah, Rachel, Ethan and Isabel Fowler and Chloe Grimm. He is the brother of James (Angie) LeCuyer of Watervliet and the late Rene, Alphonse and Albert LeCuyer and Jeanette Haver Berghammer. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Albany Co. Nursing Home 5th floor staff and the Hospice unit for the excellent care given to Paul. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
