Paul Zoller Obituary

Zoller, Paul A. CLIFTON PARK Paul A. Zoller of Clifton Park peacefully passed away on January 23, 2022. He was born on October 28, 1946, in Albany to his loving parents, the late Joseph J. and Margaret M. Straney Zoller. Paul graduated from Christian Brothers Academy class of 1965, he went on to receive an associate degree from H.V.C.C. and then enlisted in the Army during the height of the Vietnam War. After his training in Fort Dix, N.J., and Fort Gordon, Ga., he was sent to Okinawa, Japan. He married his high school love, Linda M. Zelka, in 1968 and spent a two-and-one-half-year honeymoon in Okinawa, Japan while he served four years as a fifth class specialist in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War. After returning to the States, Linda and Paul settled in the village of Scotia. He was re-hired by the N.Y.S. Dept. of Transportation as an engineering aide, and he worked nights at his family owned business The Clinton Hardware in Albany. He retired in 1988 from Peerless Liquor Company as a liquor sales representative after being diagnosed with A.L.S. (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig's disease. This disease did not stop him, Paul got around with either a golf cart or a scooter, and with two growing sons, he had gotten involved in youth sports where he became the president of The Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football and he learned to enjoyed life to its fullest at all times and in all situations. Paul's biggest and dearest life's passion was spending quality time with his wife Linda as he was able to travel to Siesta Key, Fla. after Linda retired. Paul spent many family times and family vacations with his children and grandchildren (Camp Uncle Pete, Virginia Beach, Disney World, Lake Placid). Second to none were times spent with his dear friends at the American Legion 1450 Halfmoon. Paul often realized he was blessed with a beautiful family: his wife, Linda M. Zoller; sons, Jason E. Zoller (Susan), and Michael J. Zoller (Jan); seven grandchildren, Matthew, Keegan, Mackenzie, Sarah, Brinley, Blaine, and Luke Zoller; his three siblings, the late James J. Zoller (Rita) William J. Zoller (Agnes), and Margaret M. Zoller Meister (Albert); and his many caring nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the loving and compassionate staff of The Community Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 28, at 10 a.m. in St Edward the Confessor Church, Clifton Park Center Road with Father Patrick Butler officiating. A procession to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery will follow the Mass, where military honors will be bestowed to Paul. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Scotia-Glenville. Linda and the Zoller Family,
Juanita and I are saddened to hear of Paul´s passing. I enjoyed my time with Paul at several occasions at the Legion including a drink at the bar, the many Wednesday poker games and doing the football tallies on Monday mornings. Paul and I exchanged friendly jabs always kidding around. I was fond of our friendship. He will be missed. Rest In Peace my friend.

Paul and I attended Our Lady of Angels and CBA together. I spent many hours at his house and his dad's hardware store on Clinton Street. Last saw Paul at our 25th CBA reunion, shortly after he had been diagnosed with ALS. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
