Philip Schweppenhauser Obituary

Schweppenhauser, Philip J.
ALBANY - Philip J. Schweppenhauser of Albany, N.Y., loved by many and admired by all, passed away surrounded by family in the early morning of April 1, 2025. A beloved husband to the late Sandra T. Schweppenhauser (Sabatino) for 29 years, and a loving companion to Irene Place for the past 21 years.
A devoted father to Philip A. Schweppenhauser (Kelly), Karen Grignon (Michael), and Lisa Catalano (Eric); and a loving grandfather/Plopers to Kayle Rose Messier and Lleyla A. Grignon.
Through his unwavering relationship with Irene, he gained an extended family of Chris and Monique Place (Nathaniel and Addisyn), Kelly and Graham Brewer (Samuel and Tyler), Jimmy Place and Renee Tilley-Goyette (Abigail, Victoria, Sarah).
Phil, born September 29, 1942, was a Bronx man through and through and the only son of Valentine and Theresa (Kedl) Schweppenhauser. Through his extended family, he leaves many cousins.
A high school graduate of Mount St. Michael's in the Bronx and an alumnus of SUNY Farmingdale, Phil acquired a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences and began work with The NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, retiring as a Chief Marketing Representative. In this role, he spent many a summer and autumn in Syracuse, N.Y., running the wildly popular Potato Booth, showcasing New York's premier Potato crop.
After retirement from the State, Phil began a career at Capital District Off Track Betting as a Floating Manager.
A Volunteer Firefighter with North Bethlehem Fire Department, he served not only as a fireman but also as a District Commissioner for many years. In addition to his volunteer work, he was also a Charter Member of the Guilderland Elks Lodge #2480.
Phil will be greatly missed and will continue to live on in the hearts of his friends and family through their treasured memories.
