NISKAYUNA - Raymond L. Phoenix, a resident of Niskayuna, N.Y., died at the age of 95, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Ellis Hospital, due to complications associated from a fall he sustained on October 20. He was the son of Raymond J. and Lillian Phoenix, of Colonie, N.Y.
Ray enjoyed a lengthy career as a draftsman, eventually becoming Vice President at General Steel Fabricators in Latham, N.Y. He dedicated many years to serving the Lord as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, elder, and committee member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Colonie, and later at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Schenectady.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Gladys; his wife of 70 years, Mavis (2023); his eldest son, David (2009); and his second eldest son, Wayne (2024). Ray is survived by his daughter, Janice; and his youngest son, Mark; as well as several nieces, nephews, five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In our sorrow and grief, may the God of all healing mercies comfort all who mourn Ray's passing with the Gospel, which promises strength and help to the troubled and weary. We, as Christians, know that death is not the end. There is, in Christ Jesus, a resurrection and a new creation in store for all who believe. May our Father in Heaven grant us grace to pray with a believing heart, "Thy will be done" and to know that His will is a good and gracious will, even in the present hour. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; (Psalm 100:1-2). Look forward to that great day when all the ransomed of the Lord shall return; come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away (Isaiah 51:11).
