Richard Perry Obituary

Perry, Richard Ward
SARATOGA - Richard Ward Perry, aged 83, peacefully passed on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on July 24, 1940, in Lawrence, Mass., Richard was the cherished son of the late Walter H. Perry and Alice R. Ward Perry.
Richard pursued his education with dedication and earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Connecticut as well as his master's in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
With a career spanning many years, Richard served as a Civil Engineer for NYS until his well-deserved retirement. He also proudly served his country in the Air National Guard, including service in Vietnam. Family was number one to Richard, and he infused his every endeavor with love and dedication. An avid lover of nature, he found solace and joy in fishing and outdoor adventures. His passion for exploration led him to travel extensively, having visited 104 countries. Richard was also a fervent supporter of UConn Basketball (Go Huskies!). His faith was central to his life, and he was deeply devoted to St. George's Episcopal Church in Clifton Park.
Richard leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Aldonna Perry; his daughter, Rebecca Johnson (Darrell); his brother Douglas Perry (Liz); his sister, Jean Perry Clark (Tom); grandchildren, Sam, Savannah, Paden, and Holden Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss his gentle spirit.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Perry, who held his heart since the day she was born. Together, they rejoice in heaven.
As this era comes to a close his family is grateful for the impact and love he had for all. And as he most eloquently stated "It's either that or a fried egg."
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 Route 146, Clifton Park, N.Y. 12065.
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the family will be receiving guests from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. There will be a reception directly following.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard can be made to AIM Services, Inc., 4227 Route 50, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866 (aimservicesinc.com) or Saratoga Bridges, 16 Saratoga Bridges Blvd., Ballston Spa, N.Y. 12020 (saratogabridges.org).

April 3, 2024

I have known, enjoyed, and appreciated Dick and Donna Perry for many years, at St. George's Episcopal Church. As an avid reader, I have always been impressed with the quality of books that Dick read, and I have also been thankful for the help that Dick provided to me during a difficult time. Dick was a wise, gentle, compassionate individual. May he fully experience the blessed kingdom where he hoped to dwell with Jennifer and with God.

My thoughts and prayers are with Donna and with all of Dick's relatives.
