The Powell Family -
You don't know me, but I worked at Vanderheyden Hall for 28 years, and retired this past April. I knew Pope through his affiliation with Vanderheyden, and spent much time with him, Dion, John McPhearson, and many others at our past reunions. I was very much involved with naming a rtoom in his honor in our Bush Cottage on our main campus. He will be missed.

Mommy, siblings, grandchildren, and great grandchildren,

It has taken me a couple of day to write anything as I am so missing him already. I will miss his laugh, his jokes and most of all his humble way of showing how much he loved us!!! His physical wil no longer be here but his memories will be with us. Let's all support and love each other because that is what he would have wanted.

Love daughter,

Diane, I couldn't believe it when my boss had told me about the sad news. We connected as time went on, and the last few things he said was '' We're just getting used to each other, now your leaving, and good bye see you later pal ''. I am glad I met him, he was a good guy, and had a good heart. He will be missed by all of us!, give Thor hugs for me!. He will miss him dearly also.

I will always remember his kindness, his warmth and his laughter. "Pope" was a comrade, and a friend. The world is a little less full without him, but his memory lives on in all of the lives he touched, the people who love him and his legacy of caring will go on living. Semper FI!

To my strong Father Popey,
You came in my life at a time that I thought you were taking my mother away from me, I was 6 years old and realized as years went on, why my mother fell in love with you. You married mommy when I was 9 years old; and as years went on our relationship grew. You are the father that every child dreamt of. You've watched me grow from a child to a woman (mother), you listened to me when sometimes nobody would, settled me down in the time of meltdowns, listened to my problems and sometimes gave me a solution to those problems. You were a wonderful husband, grandfather. You were a curacious, sweet, thoughtful,a proud veteran and Marine and REAL genuine
man what you see is what you get! I could go on and on about what kind of man you were. What you see is what you got!!! I love you so much and I am going to miss you soooo much! Mommy will be fine I will take care of her just rest peacefully and know that you are going to be missed every day!!! Thank you for being MY DAD! Your daughter loving, Lachesha Cherie Kinsey

To Diane and Family,
I'm sorry for your loss. Pope was such a sweet man. I will always remember him sitting on the front pew at Morning Star and smiling when I was doing announcments...especially when I announced a meeting for the Sons of Thunder and he would bang his cane on the floor.
I pray that in the days to come that God will speak peace to your hearts and comfort you as only He can.
Blessings~
