SCHROON LAKE - Robert "Bob" L. Smith of Schroon Lake, N.Y., passed away on February 3, 2025.
Bob was born on July 26, 1942, to Frank Lester Smith and Irene Bernard Smith, of Watervliet, N.Y.
After graduating from Watervliet High School, Bob served four years in the New York Army National Guard, while beginning his career in construction. Bob met his wife, Donna Shaughnessy Smith, shortly after high school in Watervliet and were married in 1962.
In 1966, Bob and Donna moved to their first house in Clifton Park, N.Y., where they resided until 2004. In 2004, Bob retired from his career in commercial construction and he and Donna moved to Schroon Lake full-time.
During his time in Schroon Lake, Bob was an active member of the Schroon Lake Fire and Ambulance squad. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, snowmobiling and riding his Harley's with the Red Knights.
In addition to his wife, Donna; Bob is survived by his children, Bob Smith, Lisa (Bob) Rokjer, Jason (Jennifer) Smith; his grandchildren, Amber, Danielle, Maxwell and Jacob; and his three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, in Schroon Lake. Mass services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y. 10306.
