Robin Hynes Obituary

Hynes, Robin Claire SLINGERLANDS Robin Claire Hynes passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Robin "Missy" Heidt on January 5, 1963. Robin was the loving daughter of Michael and Norma Heidt, and she had four doting brothers, Michael, Warren, Bobby and Ken. Robin graduated from Jefferson Central School in 1981, and she earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, or TCU, in 1985. Robin was a tremendous athlete throughout her life. At age 12, she played in the Little League Softball World Series. She was a scratch golfer and an accomplished skier and she played short-stop with a cannon for an arm. As proof of her excellence in athletics, Robin was recently inducted into the Section IV Sports Hall of Fame. However, Robin was not only good at sports. She was proficient in whatever endeavor she attempted. Her friends complimented her on wonderfully prepared meals. She was extremely creative with arts and crafts projects and she was an expert with Microsoft products like Excel and Powerpoint. We also can't forget that she played multiple instruments, including the accordion, drums, guitar and piano. Robin worked at Verizon Wireless for over 20 years in various roles. Her biggest contributions came in the area of process improvements. She wrote many training documents to implement quality improvements in different facets of the business. After leaving Verizon Wireless, Robin spent eight years working for HilcoGlobal as the office manager. She enjoyed working for Chris and considered her coworkers close friends. Robin is survived by her BFF and husband for over 35 years, Jerry Hynes. The couple have a son, Tyler, who was the apple of her eye. He was the one person who could make her smile or relax during this difficult journey. In addition, Robin is survived by her brother, Warren and his wife Betty Heidt; sisters-in-law, Kay Heidt and Susan Heidt; mother-in-law, Mary Hynes; and brothers-in-law, Tim Hynes and his wife Teresa, Michael Hynes and his wife Kelli, and Chris Hynes and his wife Tanjia. Robin also adored her nieces and nephews: Warren, Andy, Merry and Adam on the Heidt side and Meghan, Emma, Mackenzie and Addy on the Hynes side. There are also countless loving cousins and dear friends, too many to name, but Robin would want you to know she loved you every day. Robin had a zest for life that attracted people to her. Her spirit will live on in all the people she touched throughout her life. She lived a happy life full of unselfish gestures and caring thoughts. But Robin did have one parting thought: apparently laughter wasn't the best medicine. I wish laughter could've saved her because it surely would have. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. All are invited to attend her funeral services at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 11, at 11 a.m. Face masks are required inside and outside of our chapels. Thinking of Robin´s husband, Jerry and her son, Tyler. We felt deeply saddened for her family when we learned of Robin´s passing. We have fond memories of years past when our son´s were young friends spending time together. Robin was always so genuine and kind, very easy to be around. We will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of your wife and Mom. Compassion, comfort and peace to you both.

Sending my love to Tyler and Jerry, and all who loved Robin. I grew up down the road from the Hynes family and have fond memories of Robin showing off her skills on a skateboard, bike or with a soccer-ball. She would wow us kids and then proudly tell us stories of growing up with 4 brothers. I know she will be missed dearly by all her neighbors, even those of us who´ve grown up and moved away Robin was kind and welcoming, and my 10 year old self will never forget her rocking it on a skateboard past our house.

Jerry and Tyler, My condolences for your loss. Robin will be remembered by many. Personally, we have great memories of her on Stream Lane - her truck, country music, crafts, skateboarding, golf, tennis, always offering to lend a hand, her love and commitment to her family. Robin's love of life energized everyone she came in contact with. She will be missed by many. Sending strength and prayers during this difficult time.
