Rolf H. Ullrich

Ullrich, Rolf H. PITTSFIELD Rolf H. Ullrich, 82, passed away on March 26, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of the late Reinhold F. and Betty C. (Kieslinger) Ullrich. He grew up in Pittsfield and Peru, Mass., graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1945. Rolf served in the U.S. Army 1st Division in Germany and in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1955. He married his beloved wife Ruth in 1950. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Rolf is survived by a son David (Karen) Ullrich of Athens; and his daughters Barbara of Fayetteville, N.Y., Susan of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Christine (Gregory) Wanek of Athens, N.Y. His brother Reinhold Ullrich, M.D. of Rolling Hills Calif. Grandchildren, Melissa (Keith)Gooley, Julia Wanek and Skyler Wanek; great-granddaughter Gianna Gooley; and many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family in Germany. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at The Zion Lutheran Church, 102 N. Washington Street, Athens, N.Y.
