Ronald Palmer Obituary

Palmer, Ronald W. COEYMANS HOLLOW Ronald W. Palmer, 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Son of the late William and Irma Palmer, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol; daughter, Stacy (Curtis) Condon; sister, Phyllis (John) Tomeck and their children, Michael Tomeck and Carrie (Phi) Nguyen; and grand doggy, Max. Ron served for four years in the U.S. Air Force, Air Police Canine unit, stationed in Oklahoma. He received a bachelor's degree in criminal science from Russell Sage College. Ron enjoyed a 31 year career with the F.B.I., organizing the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid and serving as program manager for the new F.B.I. building on McCarty Ave. His memberships included the F.B.I. Alumni Association, Bethlehem Elks, Ravena Grange, American Legion, Ravena Coeymans Historical Society, Alcove Preservation Society, and Coeymans Hollow Fire Department. Ron loved to hunt and fish and ride his Kubota 900 (Kobe). He was an avid Texas Hold'em player and loved going to casinos. Ronald loved to cook and for a while had Granny Foods Mobile Hot Dog Cart, enjoying the socialization it brought. Always thinking of others, he was kindhearted but a jokester as well. He was surrounded by wonderful friends and family. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and may attend the funeral service at 1:30 at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Burial will be in Onesquethaw Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Onesquethaw Reformed Church Youth Group, Tarrytown Road, Feura Bush, NY 12067 or Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 So. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202.

Carol and the Palmer family, we are so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was certainly one of the good guys and will be terribly missed by the FBI family and his many friends he developed over the years. I will always remember the stories he told of the "15' bear" that would terrorize your bird feeder. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

I have so many wonderful memories of Ron. There were so many lunches during hunting season where we would sit around the table and tell lies. When I flipped my VW bus near his house when I was 19 years old, Ron came and picked me up, then talked me off the cliff. Missed and never forgotten.

Carol and Stacy - Please know of our sadness upon learning of Ron's passing. Ron was my "big brother" during summer vacations back in grammar school and was always a touch point the many decades after leaving New York. It was just last month that he and I spoke on the phone; and he was often in touch with my Mom,
Agnes, bringing her up-to-date on happenings in your area. Please accept our deepest sympathy and know that the Palmer family is in our prayers.

Dear Carol, Stacey & Family,

We are so sorry to learn about Ron. We both will miss him and his 'chats' each time we met up with him. Everyone in the area will surely miss him, too. Sorry we never did get to the casino with him, not for his lack of coaxing. God Bless you and your family and take comfort in all of the happy memories you have.
