DELMAR - S. Michael Fuhrman, 69, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, with his loved ones by his side, after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson's Disease. Born on July 3, 1956, in the Bronx, he spent most of his life in Delmar before moving to Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, where he was cared for with kindness, love, and dignity.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved parents, Edward and Freida Fuhrman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta Fuhrman; and his cherished children, Noah, Sarah, Daniel, and AJ Fuhrman; children by marriage, Joshua (Samantha) Swirsky and Jamie Swirsky; and children by choice, Danielle (Chris) Mahoney. He is also survived by his brother, Marvin (Deborah) Fuhrman; sister-in-law, Michelle (Tim) Shifflett; and his loving mother and father-in-law, Edward and Laura Edelman.
Michael took immense pride in his grandchildren, Colton, Harley, Thea, Ezra, and McKenna, who filled his neshama (soul) with joy. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Alex, Nicki, Lucas, Matthew, and Allison, each of whom he loved deeply. A dedicated physician, Michael earned his D.O. from the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was part of the first graduating class, a distinction he carried with great honor. He went on to open his private practice, First Care Primary & Urgent Care, in the heart of Delmar, becoming a trusted, compassionate, and beloved presence within the Bethlehem community. He was profoundly grateful to Bethlehem Chabad and held a deep appreciation for the Simon family.
Michael loved architecture - especially the work of Frank Lloyd Wright - as well as the music of the band America, the NY Mets, sweets of every kind, learning (particularly about Jewish life and tradition), and teaching his family. Above all, he loved his wife with all of his heart and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. A private funeral will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Beth Moses Cemetery, in Long Island. Shiva will take place on Long Island, followed by the remainder of shiva in Albany.
