Salvatore Bagnoli

MECHANICVILLE Salvatore Tuggy Bagnoli, 86, of North Second Street, died Saturday evening, July 23, 2005 at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, he was born December 10, 1918, son of the late Pasco and Costanza Rossi Bagnoli. A conductor for the Delaware and Hudson Railway in Mechanicville for over 35 years. Mr. Bagnoli also served with the Mechanicville Police Dept. as a school crossing guard for many years. During the Depression, Sal joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and later served as a 1st sergeant with the U.S. Army in Panama during World War II. He was member of the Peters-Purcell ITAM and Assumption-St. Paul Church, both of Mechanicville. His wife of 52 years, Catherine Durante Bagnoli died in 1998. He was also predeceased by siblings, Marion Rossi, Sisto Bagnoli, Orlando Willie and Armand Mer Bagnoli. Survivors include his two sons, Lawrence Bagnoli of Gloversville, Richard and wife Eileen Bagnoli of Ballston Lake; four grandchildren, Christine Figorito, John, Mark and David Bagnoli; two great-grandkids, Marcus and Juliette Figorito; a sister, Constance Morcone of Mechanicville along with in-laws, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption-St. Paul William Street Church with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
