TROY - Sandra Jeanne Rivet, 75, of Harris Rd., passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Carmella Vozzy Garrity. She was a 1966 graduate of Waterford Halfmoon High School and later received a Child Care Technician Certificate, from St. Catherine's Center for Children.
Sandie retired in 1998, from Verizon, after 19 years of service. In her earlier years, she was employed as a Child Care Technician, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Troy. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Sandie enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, watching TV and movies and listening to 1950's and 60's music. She was especially proud of having one of her recipes published in a cookbook.
She is the beloved wife of 55 years of Michael Rivet, Sr.; and devoted mother of Michael Rivet, Jr. of Cohoes, Craig Rivet (HyunHui) of Illinois, Marc Rivet of West Sand Lake, Concetta Terese Rivet of Texas, and the late Anne Marie Rivet. She is the sister of Thomas G. Garrity of Cohoes and Janis G. Kent of Clifton Park. She is the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Thursday, at 7 p.m., at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4-7 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
