Sandra Spencer Obituary

Spencer, Sandra
MALTA - Sandra Jean (Hickey) Spencer, 82 of Malta, passed away, December 1, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Marcel and Blanche (Thomson) Hickey. She was a graduate of Shaker High School. Sandra enjoyed Scottish dancing in her youth and was a member of the Colonie Triune Players as an adult. She loved Hawaii, taking many trips there. She once met Don Ho, and he gave her a bottle of champagne, which she has kept for over 40 years. She resided in southern California for 30 years, but moved back to New York in 2015 to be closer to family. She lived in Highpointe Senior Apartments, where she had a very active social life: attending parties, running trivia games, and making many dear friends.
Sandra is survived by her children, JoAnn (Ralph) Rarick, Alison Spencer, Pamela (Charles) Zenker, and Charles Spencer; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Bennett) Overall, Richard Rarick, and Charles Zenker; four great-grandchildren, Maggie and Mason Overall and Ryan and Easton Rarick; her siblings, Moira Witt, John (Deborah) Hickey, and Lawrence (Joyce) Hickey; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be a small graveside service, on July 25 at 11 a.m., at Memory Gardens, Rt. 155 Colonie, New York.

Aunt Sandy,

Went to your burial today, I cried on the way there. Somehow it's so final now, here on earth. When I think of you, I always smile and laugh, you had that effect on people. You just brought happiness to everyone.
Ben, did your service, spoke every word that each of us was thinking. It was beautiful.
I will miss you, and I will treasure the every memory. I'm so lucky that you were in my life, and so grateful to have you as my Aunt.
Love your niece Anne.
