Stephen Debboli Obituary

Debboli ESQ, Stephen C.
HALFMOON - Stephen Clovis Debboli, 73, of Clifton Park died peacefully on Sept. 12, 2024 after a very brief illness. He was the loving husband of Diana DePaul Debboli and the son of the late Anthony D. Debboli and Mary Jean Clovis Debboli.
Born in Troy, Steve is a graduate of St. Anthony's School, LaSalle Institute and Siena College. He received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he practiced law for 42 years. Steve was admitted to the State of Illinois Supreme Court, representing his clients before Illinois State Trial and Appellate Courts. He was a partner at Serpico, Petrosino and DiPiero, Ltd, where he devoted his professional life advocating for his clients. He was a mentor and friend to a great many young lawyers.
Steve and Diana made a home in Chicago for 45 years. They created another family of dear friends there. They enjoyed sharing their Chicago home with family and friends who visited them and were the best hosts and tour guides.
Upon retirement in 2018, Steve and Diana moved back home to the Troy area to the delight of their families and many local friends whom they remained in touch with over the years.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his brother Anthony Debboli of Rochester and his sister, Mary Ann Morgan (Rich) of Wynantskill. He was predeceased by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Sam and Mary DePaul, and sister-in-law Sharon Nichols Debboli.
Steve and Diana were devoted to each other and their marriage was an inspiration to all who knew them. Steve loved to spoil Diana and he certainly kept her entertained. Steve will be especially missed by his nieces and nephews as well as his many great nieces and nephews. They always looked forward to his jokes, antics, magic tricks and hidden gummy bears. Family gatherings will never be the same.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church State Street Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Stephen C. Debboli to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105. We recommend using the brycefuneralhome.com website to share or send condolences, light a candle, view videos or for service directions.

I´m lucky to have had such a wonderful brother in law for 24 years. It was an honor to know him and laugh with him, whenever they flew in from Chicago, to be with their families. RIP Gentle Steve, you´ll never be forgotten. Always, your sister in law. De

Nichols Family

September 17, 2024

The Nichols family remembers Steve with great fondness. His class, style and wry wit made him an endearing figure. We always looked forward to his visits to Rochester. We loved seeing him - and also Diana. A visit from Steve and Di inevitably meant an "event" at Sharon's and Tony's home where we'd laugh and eat until our tummies - and our hearts - were way past full. Sharon was the "Contessa". Diana was (and remains) "Lady Di". Somewhere along the way, Tony and Steve were tagged with "Primo and Secundo", inspired by the two brothers in the movie "Big Night". It was always very special when Steve and Di were with us. Our hearts go out to his families - including our own - for the loss of his presence. But he will remain in our hearts forever.

Diana and family. Steve was an elite member of a great group of law students which I was lucky to be part of at John Marshall. All with a great sense of humor and Steve was one of the best. He went on to be a highly accomplished attorney for over 40 years. We were all proud of him. Byron Knight

We were profoundly sorry to learn of Stephen's passing. He was a true gentleman to everyone in our extended families and a consummate professional.
Stephen's legal acumen was so well respected he even argued major,
precedent setting cases before the Illinois Supreme Court.

Our love and prayers to wife Diana and his entire family. We're certain Almighty God will welcome him in Heaven and provide solace to his heartbroken family.

All the best. Always.
Amen.

Not only was Steve my brother-in-law and friend, he was like a brother to me. The times we spent working on his honey do list were some of my favorite. You will be missed. Good bless you.
