Stephen Eberle Obituary

Eberle, Stephen W. TULSA, Okla. Stephen W. Eberle, 55, died on August 5, 2011, following a brief illness. Steve was born in Albany, N.Y., and attended Christian Brothers Academy. He received his B.S. in horticulture from Texas A & M University. He moved to Tulsa 30 years ago and made it his home. Stephen was predeceased by his father, George Eberle, and an infant brother, Eric. He is survived by his mother, Janeth Whittemore Eberle; his sister, Marilyn; and his brothers, David, Paul, and Peter (Kristen) Eberle; several cousins, including Mark Randall, who was like a brother to Steve; and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Steve. Steve's life goal was to make the world a better, more just place for everyone. He devoted his energies to increasing awareness of AIDS and gay rights, racial and cultural equality, and animal rights. He was a passionate teacher and touched the lives of everyone he met. Graveside prayers will be read 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends may call at the Frederick Funeral Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's name to Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, 550 S. Peoria Ave. Tulsa, OK 74120, Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St. NW Washington, D.C. 20037, McLain High School Foundation of Tulsa, 4929 N. Peoria Ave. Tulsa, OK 74126, AIDS Coalition of Tulsa, 16 E. 16th St., Suite 202, Tulsa, OK 74119-4402 or the charity of one's choice. Dear Eberle Family. I was in the band at CBA with Stephen. He was a great guy full of energy and emthusiasm, and friendly to all. I am an LGBT activist in Albany, and I am proud Stephen was carrying the torch of equal rights for all in Tulsa.
