Walsh, Suzanne S.
ALBANY - Suzanne Sheehan Walsh, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother has died.
At age 91, Suzanne, after a full and happy life, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 23, 2025. Born in Albany, N.Y., on October 7, 1934, to the late John H. and Vera K. Sheehan, Suzanne grew up on Turner Place, in Albany. She attended the Academy of the Holy Names, taking pride in having attended kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1952. Thereafter, she graduated with a B.A. from the College of St. Rose, Class of 1957. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Education, in 1959, also from the College of St. Rose. With her credentials, she began teaching elementary school with the City of Albany School District.
Life had more rewards and blessings when she married the love of her life, Thomas J. Walsh, on August 8, 1959, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Albany. Shortly after their marriage, they started a family and went on to raise seven children. With her family growing, Suzanne made the choice to stay home fulltime to love, nurture and educate her daughters and son, thus giving them a firm footing in which to start and build their own careers and families. Throughout her life, Suzanne had a deep and abiding commitment to her Catholic faith, attending daily mass.
Suzanne was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Thomas J. Walsh; and her brother, J. Robert Sheehan. She is survived by her seven children, Claire Rehfuss (Stephen), Nancy Julien (Thomas), Peter, Kara Tedesco (Joseph), Sheila Hepp (David), Catherine Bugliari (Anthony), Maura Sommer (James); 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Despite our sadness and grief, we take comfort knowing that our mother lived and loved well. In addition to volunteer work over the years, Suzanne enjoyed and entertained a wide circle of friends, including her bridge club. She spent many wonderful summers at her beloved home in Chatham on Cape Cod, her favorite place always being in the sun. What great days they were!
She and her husband, Thomas, were able to travel throughout the United States and Europe meeting new people, building new friendships, and enjoying all the rewards that come with travel.
At the end of the day, our mother created fabulous and priceless memories. This, we say, is irreplaceable. Honoramus Matres Nostras.
We thank friends and family for being so supportive in this trying time. Funeral services will be private. Those wishing to remember Suzanne in a special way, may send a contribution to Catholic Charities or Community Hospice.
