Thomas Watts Obituary

Watts, Thomas F. SCHENECTADY Thomas F. Watts, 84, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Rochester. Educated first in New York, Tom graduated from Elmira Catholic High School before proceeding to attend Bowling Green University in Ohio. After his time at the university, he joined the Marine Corps in 1952 during the Korean War. During this time in the Corps, he spent 14 months in the Far East before being discharged in 1955 holding the rank of sergeant. After his military service, he retired from Sears and Roebuck in Colonie Center after 26 years in various management positions. He then went on to work at Trustco Bank as a courier for eight years. He spent his time enjoying his neighborhood walks, rooting for the New York Giants and Saint Louis Cardinals, being an active member in several bowling and golf leagues along with his position as a communicant of St. Gabriel's Church. Above all, Tom cherished the time he spent with his family. Tom was the proud father of his children, leaving behind his daughters, Roseanne McCaffrey, Joananne (Matthew) Manella, Elizabeth Watts, and his son, Thomas J. Watts; as well as his grandchildren, Matthew McCaffrey, Erica McCaffrey, Patrick Manella, and Kendall Manella. He will also be missed by his loving sister, Madonna Gordon. He now joins in eternal life his parents, Ann E. Rohde Watts and John T. Watts; as well as his brother, George Watts. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a calling hour for Tom on Monday, April 1, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Demarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Tom will be laid to rest in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to the Franciscan Friars, P.O. Box 598, Mount Vernon, NY, 10551 or to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Sending thoughts & prayers to the family...my brothers and I grew up with Mr. Watts' kids Roseanne, Joananne & TJ. Lots of wonderful memories with the Watts', Segretto's, Conahan's & us (White's). My deepest condolences on your loss.

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
Barb and I spent many years with Tom and his family while he was raising his children and afterward. We had a great time celebrating Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, house parties and visits to the Elks.
Tom and I had a friendship that allowed us to talk about any subject and admit anything to each other about our lives. A mutual good sense of humor allowed us to reveal his few and my many shortcomings. We are all the poorer with the loss of this good, decent, honorable, man.I have missed him. Bob and Barb Conahan

Tom has been a good friend for many years. We had lots of good times together. I remember one time at the Rotterdam Elks when he was singing Irish songs...hysterical. Tom was a great father. I will miss his smile & his humor. RIP my friend...
