Dobis, Timothy
COHOES - Timothy "T.J." Dobis Jr., 37, of Rose Ct., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Niskayuna, he was the cherished son of Maureen Dearstyne Noonan of Halfmoon, and the late Timothy J. Dobis, Sr.
T.J. was raised in Cohoes, graduated from Cohoes High School and attended ITT Tech. He was employed at GlacierPoint Enterprises in Albany, and in his younger years, as kitchen manager at Carrabba's in Latham.
T.J. was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golfing with his buddies and was the San Francisco 49'ers biggest fan! He was a typical "Guys Guy;" one with unassuming strength, timeless style, casual confidence and comfortable in his own skin.
T.J. will be remembered for his great wisdom, sense of humor, magnetic personality and his kind generous nature. He always put others first; a true "Empath," highly sensitive to the emotions of others. He loved being surrounded by his family, friends, dogs and good food.
In addition to his mother, T.J. is survived by his loving sisters, Amy Church of Watervliet, Jodi Church, Amanda Anderson (Josh) and Melissa Mahar (Greg Henry) all of Waterford; by his cherished nephew and nieces, Colin of Malta, Carlie, Gracie and Josie all of Waterford; and by his grandnephew, Sal. He is also survived by his uncle, Michael "Uncle Bomber" Dobis of Cohoes, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
In addition to his father, T.J. was predeceased by his adored niece, Bella Ray Church, now together again on a new adventure.
He will also be missed by his constant best canine companion, "Miss Tillie" who he loved spending time with.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with T.J.'s family Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m., at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.
A graveside committal service will be held Thursday, at 12 p.m., in Waterford Rural Cemetery. Those attending should use the Davis Ave. entrance to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in T.J.'s memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, N.Y. 12204.
