Tom Conole Obituary

Conole, Tom "T.C."
ALBANY - Tom "T.C." Conole, passed away, on June 9, 2025. T.C. was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on November 4, 1941, to Dr. Frank D. Conole and Mary Frances Conole, who predecease him.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Conole; his daughters, Kathleen "Kelly" Conole Sweeney (John), and Kimberly Conole O'Brien (Jay); his siblings, Kathleen Reynolds, Mary Frances Joynes (John), Chuck Conole, Bill Conole (Patricia), Bibbie Withers (Dennis), Connie Carey (Tim), and Colleen Fitzsimmons (John); his four beloved grandchildren, Eoghan Sweeney, Maeve O'Brien, Keelin O'Brien, and Meaghan O'Brien; and his many nieces and nephews that he adored.
T.C. graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1963, and then went on to get a Master of Criminal Law from the New England School of Law, and a Juris Doctorate from New York University. He was then an attorney for the state of New York, and upon retirement, he returned to work as a law guardian for Albany Family Court.
One of the greatest joys in T.C.'s life was cheering on his grandchildren, especially from the sidelines of countless lacrosse games. Rain or shine, he could be found in the stands shouting encouragement for all to hear. His love for his grandkids was boundless, and their athletic pursuits brought him endless happiness and connection. When he wasn't at a game, he could often be spotted on his daily walks through the neighborhood. That same unwavering spirit carried into his loyalty to his Alma Mater, the University of Notre Dame, whose Fighting Irish football team he followed with lifelong pride. Saturdays in the fall were reserved for watching the game, often surrounded by family and clad in blue and gold, cheering just as loudly as he did on the lacrosse sidelines.
Go Irish!
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with T.C.'s family Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., at Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. (Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle Way), Albany, N.Y. 12208. His Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m.

For a time, Tom and I were both riding the same CDTA bus regularly and I so enjoyed hearing him holding forth on the bus about all sorts of topics, which of course included play by Notre Dame teams. He was so witty and engaging, even with casual bus friends. Sending prayers for Mrs. Conole and for their daughters and their familes.

Aleda and I will always remember Tom and Jane as positive contributors to friends , community and family life.
I initially met Tom through a common political ideology but as that changed we stilled prevailed as friends for life. I called him Albany´s "walking" Ambassador as the only one I knew who walked to work downtown every day from our homes Hawthorne Ave.
Remember all the good things and the energy of TC.
