Victoria Piwnica Obituary

LOUDONVILLE Victoria Gliwski Piwnica, 91, of Conway Circle, Loudonville, and formerly of Ogden Mills, Cohoes, died Monday, September 11, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Farran Gliwski and wife of the late John S. Piwnica Sr. Victoria lived most of her life in Cohoes and was employed for 18 years as a sewing machine operator with Troy Town Shirt Co. in Cohoes, retiring in 1968. She was the first resident of Ogden Mills and was honored as the longest resident. Victoria had many passions, her patriotic love of her country and, most importantly, her endless devotion to her family. She enjoyed being in the company of her loving family: they were the focus of her life. Victoria was a member of St. Michael's Church, Cohoes. She is survived by her loving children, Sally Pondillo and her husband Anthony of Ballston Lake, Victoria Radcliffe and her husband Michael of Walnut Creek, Calif. and John S. Piwnica Jr. of Loudonville; her adored grandchildren, Catherine (Daniel) Driscoll, Anthony Jr., Patrick, Peter, David (Jennifer) Pondillo, Elizabeth (Robert) Vidal and George (Michelle) Porter III; her cherished great-grandchildren, Liam Driscoll, Nina and Julia Vidal. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sophie Desnoyers and Stephen Gliwski. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Michael's Church, 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 4-7. Those wishing to remember Victoria in a special way may make contributions in her memory to St. Michael's Church, Special Project, 36 Page Ave., Cohoes, NY 12047 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
