Russell, Vincent C. HALFMOON Vincent C. Russell, 71 of Raylinsky Lane, passed away on November 26, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Troy on January 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Hedwig Raylinsky Russell Sr. and brother of the late Edward J. Russell Jr. Vince was a standout high school and collegiate athlete. He graduated from Mechanicville High School and was a member of the 1967 undefeated championship football team that was recently inducted into the Mechanicville High School Hall of Fame. He also graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in physical education. At UConn, he starred in football and held several offensive single-game records for many years. He then taught at Columbia High School for several years. His athletic ability carried on after school, playing on the Pruyn Hill Auto Body softball team for many years. Most recently, Vince worked on the grounds crew at Fairways of Halfmoon for the past 22 years. At home, he enjoyed the company of his Silky Terrier "Stewie." He is survived by his loving companion of 27 years, Rhonda Frederick, as well as their son, Vincent E. Russell; his sister, Patricia (Joseph) Meyer; his sister-in-law, Joann Russell; his nieces and nephews, Jodi (Joe) DeMarco, Todd (Terri) Russell, Chris (Andrea) Meyer and Nicholas (Cheryl) Meyer and their families. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 30, from 4-7 p.m. at the DeVito- Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville. A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Corpus Christi Church, 2001 U.S. 9, Round Lake, with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville.
